The Full Story
The Wheatland Roping Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the sport of roping while fostering a sense of community and connection. Founded in the fall of 2024, our mission is to provide affordable opportunities for individuals to learn and grow in Team Roping, Tie Down, Breakaway, and Ranch Roping while preserving and honoring the traditions of western horsemanship.
Our founders bring a wealth of experience and expertise from diverse equestrian fields, including performance horses, roping, coaching, and competitive riding. With backgrounds in various riding disciplines and years of hands-on experience in the equestrian world, the team is uniquely equipped to create dynamic, inclusive programs that cater to all skill levels. This diverse knowledge allows us to offer a well-rounded approach to training, horsemanship, and community engagement.
As a nonprofit, every dollar we receive goes directly toward sustaining our programs, caring for livestock, and hosting events that build skills, confidence, and camaraderie. We proudly serve Wheatland County and surrounding areas, creating a family-oriented atmosphere that emphasizes growth, courage, and respect—for each other, our livestock, and the sport itself. The Wheatland Roping Club is proud to partner with Tyrrell Riding Academy, a premier equestrian facility that offers everything needed to support ropers of all skill levels. With a heated indoor arena, we provide year-round training opportunities in a comfortable and professional environment. Tyrrell Riding Academy is home to exceptional horses, skilled coaches, and a range of activities, including their popular gymkhana series and penning events, ensuring there's always something exciting happening.
Our roping facilities include a Heel-O-Matic training system, ground roping dummies, and live cattle, offering diverse opportunities to practice and refine your skills. Whether you’re learning the basics or perfecting advanced techniques, our setup caters to ropers at every stage of their journey. With access to some of the best equipment, animals, and mentorship in the area, the Tyrrell Riding Academy provides the perfect foundation for the Wheatland Roping Club’s mission of growth, community, and tradition.
